Has anyone ever told you to stay in the closet? Well today I want to encourage you to do just that.
In this day and age, we are hearing more and more people ‘coming out of the closet’ which is associated with someone coming out about what they feel their identity is but true followers of Christ know that we must ‘stay in our closet’…our prayer closet that is.
Matthew 6:6 (AKJV) says, But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly.
It’s so important that we get in our prayer closet and connect to our Heavenly Father for the power to do what he has called us to do. Our prayer closet is where we strategize and power up for this journey, called life and fight our adversary, by the name of Satan. We must have our own prayer life and relationship with God. We cannot borrow or depend on our Mamma’s faith or even our Pastor’s relationship and prayer life with God. We have to do the work …not just in church…but in private with the door shut where it’s just you and your Heavenly Father.
As I read this verse and reflected….I realized this verse tells us that we don’t have to try and force our blessings or make things happen. We don’t even have to show out for others or prove to anyone what we do for Christ. If we, as children of God, seek our Father genuinely…not for His hand and what He can do for us but for His face and who He is and ALL He has already done…He will openly reward us. Why wouldn’t you want to commune and fellowship with your Savior? Why wouldn’t you want to seek Him for the power, strength, arsenal and authority that is needed to OVERTHROW the kingdom of darkness and warfare efficiently?
Remember God doesn’t need our prayers – we need Him – and praying is our direct power source to Him. But our Father, who is such a loving God, is so good that he says that if we make Him a priority and spend time with Him in private seeking Him and all of His righteousness first, He will reward us openly in public.
So, what are you waiting for? Get in that prayer closet and be determined to have a #prayerclosetlife going forward. I also encourage you to rent, buy or stream the movie War Room for a greater visual/foundation for what this #prayerclosetlife looks like.
Almighty God, in the name of Jesus, we thank you for your word. We thank you Lord that you are so unwavering in your character and love with us even when we are wishy washy and inconsistent. Lord help us to seek you first and make our relationship and prayer closet life with you a priority. We cannot make it without you…that’s a fact. We love you and thank you. In Jesus name, Amen!
